AZRA currently consists of two departments:

1. Project Department
2. The Department for Regional Development

The work of each of these departments is organized so that their tasks and activities are complementary and not mutually exclusive. This ensures efficient use of AZRA's other resources on a daily basis.

Project department

Project activities of this department are organized in a way to improve the social and economic development of northwest Croatia. The main tasks of the Project Department are:

• Project cycle management for projects of regional significance through the preparation and implementation of projects
• Raising the capacity of stakeholders in developing project cycle management through training and consultancy services
• Information and coordination of stakeholders in developing a project through consultation, promotion of tendering and technical assistance at any stage of the project cycle

The project cycle follows the project from the initial idea through to its completion. It provides a framework which ensures consultation with all stakeholders and defines the key decisions, information requirements and responsibilities at each phase so that during the project it is possible to make appropriate decisions. The project cycle consists of six phases: programming, identification, formulation, financing, implementation and evaluation.

Department for regional development

This department consists of several sub-departments:

• Personnel and accounting department,
• Croatian Regions Office
• IT support,
• The Office of Energy Efficiency
• Regional Development.

The activities of this department are focused on the effective coordination and promotion of regional development and are organized in this way to improve the social and economic development of northwest Croatia. The main task of the department for regional development is the implementation of regional development through:

• Development of strategic development strategies and County strategic documents for the municipalities and cities of Varazdin County
• Participating in the work of the partnership body for the development of Varazdin County
Monitoring the social and economic development at the local, regional and national levels through the implemented projects
Coordination and partnerships with stakeholders involved in regional development , to inform them, and provide technical assistance in strategic planning, economy, agriculture, tourism and efficient energy management
